Spectacle
As I have said before I wanted to focus on the Anti-spectacle for my artefact. These photos show cheerleading stunts in a light that wouldn’t usually be seen, as when most audiences see a routine it has been perfected to the highest standards ready for competing

Response to spectacle photography
As I have said in my spectacle idea, after looking into Stephen Gill, I wanted to focus my photographs on the anti spectacle. I feel I have achieved this with my photographs, focusing on a cheerleading stunt from angles that audiences don’t really see them from.
The 4 photographs that I have displayed show a variety of stages of a stunt. None of these stages would really be seen by an audience, especially a stunt falling which is shown in one.
The photograph that I like the most is the one focusing on the girls face; you can see the concentration and determination on her face, to keep the stunt in the air.
Although I like this photograph, I am not completely happy with the outcome of the photographs as a whole. I feel I was not prepared fully for the speed of the movements which where taking place.
If I was going to redo these photographs I would try and look at the stunts from more angles, such as below the stunt and focusing more on the facial expressions of the girls within the stunts
Memory
For this I had decided to look at traditions and how social traditions are dying out, such as afternoon tea, knitting and baking for example.

Response to Spectacle photograpy
I have not stuck exactly to the breif on this set of photographs, but have played around with one location to see what sort of photographs I would be able to produce in the location. I think the knitting photographs have turned out best and I think if the location and props were as I describe on my idea page this would have turned out to be a really good picture. The other ideas I think would be best in other settings as I have described them. I think these photographs are better than the others, but I think I would need to develop the idea futher for it to be able to stand a lone in an exhibition without any explination.
Power
For this I decided to produce photographs that showed money has a power over people.

Response to Power Photography
I think these photographs are the closest to my original idea. I like the way they have turned out, and think they show money = power quite well. If I was going to take this idea forward to be my final idea, I think I would try and use more money as I feel thie would show better the power that money holds. however Ifeel out of the 3 artefacts I have created this one woul be the best to stand alone without an explination besides it.
Spectacle – You have evidenced your inspiration, thought processes and development really well here. I have a strong idea of where you got your idea and how this has helped you create your own work. I think you have chosen a good way to look at ideas – from behind the façade. I also think that choosing a sport you have access to and knowledge of is was a good way to represent your thinking. The final artifact does convey your idea, to an extent but I’m not sure that a viewer would immediately get your meaning. I wonder if there were other kind of shots that would have had a stronger impact, eg moments when players are not so focused – adjusting clothing or hair, spitting, sweating (face, armpits), swearing. Also I wonder if some changes of scene would have added some interest, in the changing room, in the bar afterwards? You have a good idea here, don’t forget it… think some more about the visuals
Memory – I have given you similar marks here to spectacle but for different reasons. Again you have evidenced your inspiration, thought processes and development really well. Your starting point is really solid – looking at “female” skills that are passed down through generations of families – and I can see how looking at Peter Kennards work inspired you. I really like your original ideas but from this list I was expecting some quite different work. I am not sure why the images you have produced are not the same as these – if this is due to not knowing how to actually make these images I would think you will be able to “learn” how over the next few months. If you changed your mind because you prefer the photos you have here I would suggest you think some more about them and how you could improve them to get your message across. I think putting them in front of a male relative’s grave is misleading to the viewer , doesn’ti t need to a female? These are ok of sketch ideas but I don’t think they are strong enough as final images for an exhibition because they don’t tell me your brilliant idea! Again don’t forget this one, it just needs more work on the visuals.
